New Product! The compact speed monitor is a reliable evaluation system that can monitor rotational and linear speed, especially overspeed and underspeed conditions. When the speed exceeds or falls below the customer-programmed setpoint, a digital output is sent. The actual speed of the target can be sent to the controller via IO-Link. The sensor and electronic evaluation unit are integrated into the same compact housing, eliminating the need for other equipment. The compact speed sensor is available in a rich selection of industry-standard housings, including M12, M18, and M30 mm diameter metal tubular housings and cubic housings.

Operating Principle

The integrated inductive sensor of the compact speed monitor is attenuated when a metallic object passes the sensing face. The evaluation unit observes the frequency of the target and compares it with a preset switching point. When the frequency is higher or lower than the setpoint, the output state is changed.

Other functions realized via IO-Link:

The actual speed value can be monitored on the controller.
The “Window” function allows for setting 2 outputs, defining a specific machine operating speed range.
2 switching points can be set separately.
The output is selectable (PNP or NPN) as well as normally open or normally closed.
The “Teach” function can suppress background interference.
