Non-contact fail-safe inductive sensor for safety applications

ifm’s non-contact fail-safe sensors use inductive technology and can detect standard metal target materials, such as stainless steel or low-carbon steel. There is no need for coded magnets or mechanical keys, which significantly shortens installation time and avoids misalignment problems and tripping. The sensor can continuously monitor the target’s position and dwell time within the sensing window.

ifm’s non-contact fail-safe sensors can be used with any standard safety relay, safety PLC, and bus system.

Fail-safe sensors that support series connection (Gx5 series)

ifm’s clock input version allows for up to 10 non-contact fail-safe sensors to be connected in series. As an ideal choice for monitoring multiple workstations (e.g., robot cells), the fail-safe sensor can provide an output when a point in the work chain stops. By using ifm’s quick-disconnect T-connectors, wiring can be significantly reduced and simplified.
