Technical Features

Ring and tubular inductive proximity switches can detect metal objects inside a pipe.

Available in static and dynamic versions with extremely short response times.

High resolution – can even detect steel balls with a diameter of only 0.6 mm.

Pulse stretching and sensitivity can be adjusted via a potentiometer.

ifm’s ring and tubular inductive proximity switches can detect small metal objects passing through a tube. These switches are the ideal choice for assembly automation applications involving material feeding and parts counting. Two output versions are available: static and dynamic.

Operating Principle of Static and Dynamic Switches

Static Proximity Switch

The operation is similar to a standard inductive proximity switch, generating an output signal when a metal object is present in the detection zone. These switches can be used for various applications, such as detecting falling screws or monitoring for jams in a feeding process. Additionally, they can be used for wire break detection applications.

Dynamic Proximity Switch

This type is for applications that require the detection of lightweight or fast-moving parts. When the sensor detects a part, it generates an output pulse with a configurable duration from 0.1 to 150 ms. The resolution can be adjusted according to application requirements to maintain stable performance, even when detecting metal contaminants within the pipeline.
