IFM’s inductive proximity switches perfectly combine functionality, performance, and value. The new IFS, IGS, and IIS series of proximity switches have an enhanced sensing range and can be installed at a greater distance to detect objects. This can prevent damage caused by physical impact. The IIS series has a sensing distance of up to 30 mm, which is the longest sensing distance of any proximity switch on the market today.

Correction factor K=1 sensor technology (K=1)

Depending on the target material, standard proximity switches have a sensing range correction factor. For example, the sensing range for an aluminum target is 60% smaller than for a low-carbon steel target. Sensors using K=1 technology have the same correction factor for all metals. ifm’s “S” series of inductive proximity switches have the same sensing range for both aluminum and low-carbon steel targets.

Reliable detection design

These proximity switches are resistant to shock, vibration, and electrical noise, with a protection rating of IP68/IP69K, which can prevent water ingress and withstand oil and coolant in harsh applications.

They have a high switching frequency and can reliably detect metal objects in high-speed applications. In addition, they use special technology that can ignore magnetic fields that can cause false triggers. The “S” series proximity switches have a wide operating temperature range of -40 to 85°C, making them suitable for a wide range of applications.
