New! ifm’s “flat-pack” metal-face inductive proximity switch uses K=1 detection technology and a high-temperature, weld-slag resistant coating to prevent weld spatter adhesion. Weld slag rolls directly off the all-metal housing, ensuring reliable object detection.
ifm also offers versions that are immune to welding fields, which can ignore the electromagnetic interference from welding currents that may cause false triggers. For applications where a flat-pack inductive proximity switch must be close to the welding nozzle and its output must be continuously monitored, ifm’s weld-field immune proximity switches are the ideal choice.
Diagnostics via IO-Link
The flat-pack sensor with an IO-Link port can be set with millimeter precision for 2 switch points and can measure sub-millimeter changes that may shift over time. This feature helps to warn about situations like weld slag accumulation or position drift in welding cells.
Via IO-Link, it is possible to set parameters such as the relative distance to the target, the number of power-ons, operating time, and automatic sensor replacement, thereby preventing downtime.
Designed for Harsh Environments
Thanks to the high-temperature, weld-slag resistant coating, this proximity switch provides reliable switching signals even in demanding applications, ensuring a long service life in the application. ifm’s flat-pack design makes it possible to increase uptime with an outstanding price-performance ratio.
