Improve Product Quality Through Precise Position Monitoring

New! ifm has launched the O6 small photoelectric sensor. It uses a precise laser to detect minute a small change in the target’s position and transmits this information via IO-Link. IO-Link can unlock the sensor’s parameter limits and transmit them to the controller.

The O6 sensor emits a 2mm diameter laser beam and, according to the set parameters, can easily detect minute changes in component parts. This makes it possible to discover errors during component assembly or processing, and will not allow the error to continue to the next assembly step.

The visible red light is helpful for aligning the sensor and the target. The switch point can be set via the sensor’s plus/minus (+/-) buttons, or the precise distance to the target and other user-defined parameters, such as length and height, can be set via IO-Link using ifm’s LineRecorder Device software.

The compact shape is very suitable for installation in narrow spaces. Two clear LEDs indicate the switching status and power supply.

The O6 sensor with IO-Link can, through its immediate detection of errors, help manufacturers achieve real-time optimization of their processes, and will not allow incorrect parts to affect the next assembly step.

The O6 series includes polarized retro-reflective and through-beam models.
