Innovative Teach-in Mode
Baumer’s OG M18 tubular sensor is designed for reliable position detection in factory automation applications. The sensor uses an innovative two-button “teach-in mode,” which allows for programming light-on/dark-on states simply by pressing a button. This avoids the complex and difficult-to-implement programming methods of traditional teach-in sensors.
The innovative teach-in method avoids complex programming. The two buttons on the sensor are used to teach the precise on and off states for the sensor signal. For example:
- OUT-off
- Install and align the sensor in the application. The sensor’s visible red light source simplifies installation.
- Press and hold the OUT-off (output off) button for two seconds.
- OUT-on
- Place the object to be detected.
- Press the OUT-on (output on) button.
- The sensor is now ready for operation.
For precise sensing applications, the background suppression model offers high accuracy. The sensor’s microprocessor can perform automatic calibration and distinguish between the target and the background, making it very suitable for conveyor belt applications.
