The ifm SB series mechatronic flow sensor monitors water-based and oil-based media, achieving reliable flow control in various flow applications.

The sensing principle of this mechatronic flow sensor ensures an extremely short response time, is completely unaffected by air bubbles, can be installed in almost any position, and can be easily set up via pushbuttons or IO-Link.

The SB series mechatronic flow sensor is the ideal choice for applications involving rapid temperature changes or requiring a fast response, including:

SB Operating Principle

This flow sensor uses a spring-supported piston that is lifted by the flowing medium. The piston’s position is detected by a magnetic sensor and output as a binary or analog signal. When the flow decreases, the spring resets the piston to its initial position. This allows the sensor to be installed in any position (horizontal or vertical) and to be used as a check valve.
