New Product! ifm’s M30 ultrasonic sensor has a very large detection range (up to 8 meters) and is very suitable for object detection and level detection applications involving liquids and materials with uneven surfaces (such as granulates and powders).
In level detection, due to limited space, unexpected reflections may occur inside storage tanks, leading to inaccurate measurements. By using IO-Link, the sound beam can be adjusted to ensure reliable level detection. ifm’s M30 ultrasonic sensor is very suitable for such level applications.
Easily handle challenging applications
Ultrasonic sensors emit short bursts of very high-frequency sound wave pulses. When the sound waves reach an object, the echo is reflected back to the ultrasonic sensor. After measuring the round-trip time of the sound waves, it can be converted into a distance value. This information can be used for position and level detection applications.
Both ultrasonic and photoelectric sensors have the characteristic of long detection distances. However, because ultrasonic sensors work by detecting sound waves, they are not affected by light sources such as ultraviolet light or direct sunlight. Ultrasonic sensors can also detect irregularly shaped objects, including objects with holes. They are particularly suitable for detecting targets that reflect sound, and are not affected by the object’s color, transparency, or surface reflectivity.
